How to Choose an Orthodontic Dental Specialist

When trusting your smile to braces/orthodontics you may wish to consider the following:

How to tell if your dentist is a specialist?

  • Member of Canadian Orthodontic Association.
  • Probably possesses fellowship (FRCD©).
  • Can advise you regarding suitability for modern techniques including invisalign, low friction, passive, self-ligation.
  • Can advise you regarding TMJ concerns, possibly a member of the American Academies in this area.
  • Specialists welcome second opinions, questions regarding experience with new techniques and similar cases.

"Caveat Emptor"-"let the buyer beware": if non-specialists are accessed for specialist services.

The Nova Scotia Dental Board has a website with names of licensed dental specialists at www.pdbns.ca.
